Legacy Preservation and Asset Stabilization (LPAS) is a free community program created by IMPACT Cohort 12, in affiliation with the Chicago Urban League.
Our Mission is Simple
Make it easier for families on the South Side and across Chicago to access the legal tools they need to protect what they’ve built, their homes, their savings, and their legacy.Too often, families lose property and assets not because of what they didn’t earn, but because of what they didn’t plan for.
LPAS removes the barriers that keep people from getting wills, power of attorney documents, and other essential legal protections in place. Through three guided sessions, we walk you through every step, from understanding your options, to sitting down one-on-one with a volunteer attorney, to signing your completed documents. All at no cost.You don’t need to be a legal expert.
You don’t need to know where to start. You just need to show up for your family.

Session 1: Know Your Rights — Education Day

Session 2: Your Attorney Consultation

Meet one-on-one with your paired volunteer attorney for your consultation. Bring your completed documents and get personalized guidance — all in a welcoming community space, at no cost.
Session 3: Signing Day
Saturday, June 14, 2026
The final step in securing your family’s legacy. Bring your completed documents and finalize your estate plan with the support of legal professionals. This is your opportunity to sign, seal, and protect your family’s future.
