Chicago Urban League’s Annual Housing Fair Connects Residents With Homeownership And Housing Resources

More than 150 community members attended the Chicago Urban League’s 2026 Housing Fair held on Saturday, June 6, at our Empowerment Center in the Chatham neighborhood. The free, open-to-the-public annual event brought together housing professionals and resource providers to connect with community residents across the housing spectrum — from first-time buyers to renters seeking stability.

“For years, this fair has been an example of how the Chicago Urban League shows up for our community,” said Karen Freeman-Wilson, President & CEO, Chicago Urban League. “We believe that access to housing is access to opportunity, and the Annual Housing Fair serves to provide the community with the opportunity to build wealth, stability, and a future they can call their own.”

The fair featured nearly 40 resource vendors, giving attendees direct access to tools and guidance from trusted experts. Programming included two presentation sessions covering topics such as renters’ rights, down payment assistance, estate planning, selling a house, and energy efficiency. 

“Homeownership remains one of the most powerful paths to building generational wealth, and events like this are how we make that path accessible to the community,” said Pamela Stalling, Vice President of Housing and Financial Empowerment Center at Chicago Urban League. “We’re proud to have connected our neighbors with the resources they need to take their next step.”
