Sound Policy Creates a More Equitable Chicago
The conditions that create stable, vibrant communities and equitable access to quality schools, employment opportunities, individual asset-building and access to tools and capital for business growth are the result of policy decisions at the municipal, county, state and federal levels.
Through our Research and Policy Center, the Chicago Urban League aims to ensure that equitable access to education, employment and economic development for African Americans is prioritized at all levels of decision-making, and we advocate for policies that advance this agenda.
Our Policy and Advocacy work (our policy shop) has three main operational goals:
- Conduct policy landscape analyses and examine emerging issues and trends
- Conduct policy reviews and track legislation from the Chicago City Council and the Illinois General Assembly
- Provide legislative support at the local, county and state levels through sign-ons, testimony, advocacy and outreach
