The Growth Opportunity (GO) Employment Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting young adults aged 18-24 who face significant barriers to employment and career advancement. This position requires a compassionate and dedicated individual committed to helping young adults reach their full potential. The employment specialist will assist clients in achieving employment goals by providing individual employment counseling.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Develop employer relationships and secure job opportunities for program participants.
- Provide professional advice and help participants decide employment and training options.
- Document all engagement activities and communications with participants in the client management system or as directed.
- Provide additional career support by conducting workshops, providing weekly job leads and industry information and resources, and customizing hiring events.
- Assist with resume development and maintain a categorized electronic resume bank.
- Provide one-on-ones at least once a month to program participants after graduation and up to the first 90 days of job placement.
- Provide documentation of all “employment verifications” and retention on 30, 90, and 180-day employment.
- Provide local labor market information: what companies and industries are in the area, what skills and experience local area employers prefer and require, what is the usual means of entry into those companies/industries, and advise on how best to apply.
- Assist with the annual Citywide Job Fair.
- Provide monthly/quarterly programmatic reports on activities, outcomes, and recommendations for program growth.
- Attend all Chicago Urban League (CUL) and Workforce Development (WFD) meetings and events as well as participate in companywide and departmental planning and evaluation activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or CUL/WFD Leadership Team.
VIEW FULL POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Growth Opportunity (GO) Case Manager will play a crucial role in supporting young adults aged 18-24 who face significant barriers to employment and career advancement. This position requires a compassionate and dedicated individual committed to helping young adults reach their full potential. The Case Manager will be responsible for facilitating Career Readiness training, building relationships with community partners and employers, managing a caseload of up to 100 young adults annually and contributing innovative ideas to enhance the program’s effectiveness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Develop and facilitate career readiness training curricula.
- Conduct comprehensive intake interviews to assess participants’ needs, goals, strengths, and eligibility.
- Lead on-site and off-site special projects and training as requested by the Program Manager.
- Develop Individualized Career Plans (ICP) tailored to each participant’s goals.
- Manage Customer Relationship Management (CRM) databases (i.e. RiseKit, REO GPMS, etc.).
- Outsource industry leaders, community advocates, and employers to serve as guest speakers.
- Actively engage with community organizations and youth-serving agencies to identify potential participants.

Primary Function
Responsible for assisting the facilities manager in maintaining the Chicago Urban League’s office building and employee parking lot.
Principal Accountabilities
Accountable for minor repairs, mechanical, structural, general cleaning, and maintenance of CUL office building.
Daily duties include but are not limited to:
- Check all light sources including the parking lot and replace bulbs as
- Responds to employee requests for cleaning and maintenance as
- Responds to employee requests in the areas of safety and environmental needs through both personal and work order systems.
- Responsible for shipping/receiving of mail and
- Responds to various requests and work orders for service from HR, security, and executive departments.
ROLE SUMMARY
The Chicago Urban League seeks a talented grant writer for the position of Grants Manager to manage and significantly grow the Chicago Urban League’s grants portfolio and revenue. To support the sustainability of the Chicago Urban League’s programs and services, the Grants Manager will manage and coordinate the research, cultivation, writing, and submission of federal, state, and local government and foundation and corporate grants. This individual will lead all aspects of developing successful grant proposals and contracts, coordinate input across the organization as needed, and ensure that the Chicago Urban League remains in compliance with funder requirements by preparing and submitting reports and other documentation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to convey seemingly complicated projects in a compelling and persuasive manner.
- Write, prepare, and submit public/governmental grant proposals, reports, letters of inquiry, and other related correspondence, with a major emphasis on public and private grant submissions.
