The Chicago Urban League’s IMPACT Leadership Development Program Announces Its Newest Cohort of Fellows
CHICAGO, IL. – July 12, 2017 – The Chicago Urban League’s IMPACT Leadership Development Program has announced its fourth class of Fellows for its 2018 cohort. Led by Executive Director Mavis Laing, the professional leadership development program provides programming for emerging African American leaders. Since its launch in 2014, the IMPACT Leadership Development Program has assembled three extraordinary classes, each consisting of some of the brightest, most talented African American professionals in Chicago.
IMPACT moves the needle on African American representation in all organizational ranks by offering a platform to improve the state of Black professional development today. Through educational modules, mentorship, and the historical and political perspective and support of a collective group of emerging leaders, IMPACT brings together a pool of successful business professionals to build a robust pipeline of African American executives.
“The continued success of our IMPACT Leadership Development program is a testament to the societal influence the League continues to foster within Chicago’s African American communities,” said President and CEO of the Chicago Urban League Shari Runner. “We are truly ecstatic about this incoming class and we are confident that they will embody the Chicago Urban League’s vision that a strong African American community makes a better Chicago.”
The exposure IMPACT Fellows receive throughout the program year, from Chicago Urban League board members to influential leaders like Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and Brett Hart, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel at United, helps contextualize the power of African American leadership in the city of Chicago. By facilitating an intergenerational transfer of experience and knowledge from senior leaders to emerging African American leaders, IMPACT inspires long-term social transformation.
